Hugo is an associate at BMA.

He finished his Law Degree in 2001 at the Faculdade de Direito da Universidade do Porto and subsequently completed a Master Degree in Private Legal Sciences at the same Faculty and a Post-Graduation Degree in Arbitration at Faculdade de Direito, Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

Hugo joined the Portuguese Bar Association as a lawyer in 2004.

Hugo worked as a trainee lawyer and lawyer at the Law Office of Pedro Sousa e Silva from 2001 to 2005, as a lawyer at Universidade do Porto from 2005 to 2011, as an associate lawyer at CMS Rui Pena & Arnaut from 2011 to 2015, and as an associate lawyer at ABBC - Azevedo Neves, Benjamim Mendes, Carvalho & Associados, Sociedade de Advogados from 2015 to May 2016.

Hugo lectured an Intellectual Property course unit as Assistant Professor at Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto in 2011.

He is a Portuguese Industrial Property Agent since 2012 and a European Trade Mark and Design Attorney.

Hugo is a frequent speaker at the university and in national and international conferences and seminars.

He has been representing parties in litigation and providing advice in legal matters such as patents, arbitration, trademarks, design, copyright, software, data protection and advertising.
